It is fun to get creative and find new and unique ways to use QR codes that are both engaging and useful. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
-
Incentives to buy. A typical use of a QR code would be to put one on product packaging to provide more information, such as product reviews or installation instructions. But you can get a little more creative and offer potential buyers some incentives to buy at the point of purchase—such as an extended warranty, instant coupon, or free accessory—when they scan a QR code.
-
Trade show virtual “hand-outs” and incentives. QR codes are now being used to provide people with information on products at trade shows, eliminating the need for paper handouts. But you can also use them to engage people interactively. For instance, for people who attend a demo, they can scan a QR code to receive a special offer only for them.
-
Real time updates.Another use at trade shows or conferences is to provide people with last minute venue changes. You can post QR codes in a centralized location, such as a registration or information desk, that direct them to updates on the most popular sessions, or speaker and room changes.
-
Tradeshow or event contest registry. Place QR codes on signage, flyers, or programs at your event so attendees can scan the code to enter drawings or raffles.
-
Speaking events. Place QR codes in event program and signage so that people can scan the code to download the full agenda of speakers, dates, times, venue maps, and speaking locations. You can also include a QR code in your follow-up mailing to attendees or non-attendees so they can scan to listen to podcasts of the events they missed.
-
Sales meetings. QR codes can be included in presentations or on signage, datasheets, and printed playbooks. Your sales team and other attendees can then scan and download key benefits, FAQs, charts, graphs, and talking points from each presentation.
-
Advertising. If you only enough budget for a quarter-page ad in a trade pub or tradeshow program, don’t worry! You can include a QR code and incentive, such as a download for free wallpaper, contest, or coupon. Or you can invite people to scan and join your company’s conversation on Facebook or other social media sites.
-
Displays. Does your company have a lobby or tradeshow display where awards, important announcements, or product updates are posted? Include a QR code so visitors and employees can keep up with the latest news.
-
Better service. If your company has a lobby that is unattended, visitors can scan the QR code to reach an attendant or security. Similarly, at tradeshows or other events, attendees can scan QR codes on signage or table top displays to contact a sales person at the event.
